Students have various ability levels and future career goals. A counselor can point them in the right direction, making sure they take the classes they need and have the required number of credits to graduate. The class selection process is done both in classroom groups, and individually. Once a student has chosen the course he/she needs and wants, a counselor schedules them into the classes in a way that works within the school day structure. Sometimes there are conflicts between certain classes that must be reconciled, often involving choices that a counselor can help the student arrive at. For a counseling appointment, use our sign-up sheet in the Guidance Office or contact us at (248) 585-1210.
Students in Grades 9-12 are tested each year to further guide them in their career/college aptitudes and interests.
The tests are as follows:
- Grade 9 ACT Explorer
- Grade 10 PLAN (preliminary ACT)
- Grade 11 PSAT (Preliminary SAT)
- Grade 12 ACT/SAT (if desired)
