Week of February 12

Due to the snow day last Friday the Prom meeting has been rescheduled to this Friday after school in Mrs. Proctor's room

 

 

This Friday 2/16 will be a $2.00 Jeans Day to benefit the scholarship fund.

 

 

Due to Ash Wednesday mass Wednesday 2/14 will be perfect uniform day. Tuesday 2/13 will be a regular uniform day.

 

 

Brett Greco has been selected as Student of the Week. He was nominated by Ms. Hursin for helping load the truck for the canned food drive. Congratulations Brett. Come see Mr. Madsen after announcements for your award.

 

 

Sports announcements for February 12th

Girls Basketball fell to St. Catherine 36-33 in the CHSL Quarterfinals on Saturday. The Ventures rallied from 14 down at the half and came within 1 shot of tying the game and sending it to overtime. The team was led by Lydia Capaldi with 10 points, Jillian Ramos with 8 points and Gladys Oster with 6 points.

 

Wrestling saw 5 members of the team qualify for Regionals. Alex Loos finished as the district runner-up while Kendel Taylor continued his strong season with a district title in the 189 pound weight class. Kendel, Alex and 3 Madison wrestlers will compete at Richmond this Saturday for a chance to go to the state meet.

 

Boys Freshman Basketball is at Shrine today for a 4 PM game.

 

Boys Baseball has a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13th after homeroom in the cafeteria for anyone interested in playing baseball this spring.

Sports announcements for Tuesday, February 13th

There is a meeting for anyone interested in playing baseball in the cafeteria after announcements today.

 

There is a meeting tomorrow, February 14th for anyone interested in playing lacrosse. The meeting is after school, please meet in the cafeteria.

 

Boys Freshman basketball defeated Shrine 55-40. Nick Harnadek had 22 points. Daniel Adams and Adam Dixon each had 8 points. Joe Marogi added 5 points in the win. The team is back in action today as they face Clintondale at home. Tip off is 4:30 PM.

 

Girls Varsity Basketball is home tonight as they face Cardinal Mooney. Game time is 6 PM.

 

March 7th, 8th and 9th Coach Barnes is hosting a morning speed agility training from 6:45 to 7:25 for all athletes. Join this March to Greatness by signing up with Coach Barnes at lunch this week. Make all 3 days and collect your March to Greatness bonus.

Sports announcements for Wednesday, February 14th

Boys Freshman Basketball fell to Clintondale 55-45. Adam Dixon led the way with 10 points. Mark Selasky and Nick Harnadek each had 7 points.

 

Girls Varsity Basketball defeated Cardinal Mooney 49-42. Lydia Capaldi had 22 points to top all scorers. Emilee Dover had 12 points and 10 rebounds to record the double-double in the win.

 

Boys Lacrosse has a meeting after school today. Any one interested in playing please meet in the cafeteria today at 3 PM.

 

Boys Varsity Basketball has a home game tonight at 7:30 PM against Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes. Please come out and support Venture athletics.

 

 

February 15

Be the Difference Day is fast approaching!  Homeroom teachers, please have your students fill out the student inventories after announcements.

 

 

There is no choir club today after school.

 

 

Each Friday during Lent, the Pro-Life Club invites everyone to join them in the chapel to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. We will be praying for all expectant mothers, the protection of all the unborn, and for all the victims of gun violence in this country. We will begin promptly at 7:30AM and the prayer takes less than ten minutes to pray. If you have any questions, please see Mr. McCormick.

 

 

Sports announcements for Thursday, February 15th

Boys Basketball fell to Our Lady of the Lakes 60-47 in CHSL play. The team honored its 4 seniors, Nathan Jeffries, Corey Stuckey, Joey Paprocki and Franklin Lama. The Ventures were led by Mike Maten with 10 points. Nathan Jeffries had 8 points. Corey Stuckey had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The team is back in action this Saturday as they face Cardinal Mooney in the CHSL quarterfinals. Game time is 3 pm at Sacred Heart.

 

Girls JV and Varsity Basketball travels to Berkley. Game times are 5:30 and 7 pm.

 

Don’t forget to talk with Coach Barnes about participating in the March to Greatness event that runs from March 7th to March 9th in the gymnasium from 6:45 am to 7:25 am.

 

 

February 16

Sports announcements for Friday, February 16th

Girls JV Basketball defeated Berkley 48-19. Angelina Younis led all scorers with 19 points. Julia Kenny added 12. Mary Ruth Oster, Victoria Fuller, Erin Craig and Jillian Kotlar also scored in the win. It was a great season for the team as they took home the CHSL A-North Championship.

 

Girls Varsity Basketball picked up the overtime win against Berkley, 58-45. The Ventures held the Bears to 1 point in overtime. Lydia Capaldi lit up the scoring column with 21 points. Gladys Oster and Jillian Ramos were el fuego from behind the arc as they hit 7 of the teams 9 three point baskets. They finished with 14 and 13 points respectively. Laurel Krause chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds.

 

Alex Loos and Kendel Taylor head to Richmond tomorrow to compete in the MHSAA Regional Tournament. They are two wins away from earning a spot in the state finals.

 

Boys and Girls Bowling compete at the CHSL championships this Saturday morning at Oak Lanes.

 

Boys Varsity Basketball faces Cardinal Mooney at 3 pm on Saturday in the CHSL quarterfinals. Game is at Sacred Heart Academy.
