ATTENTION! The Be The Difference Day committee is looking for new members! The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 12th at 7:20AM in the chapel! Looking for an after school job or for something on the weekends? Check out the job board outside the Counseling offices - there are lots of new opportunities to apply for!

 

 

National Honor Society will be selling Candy Grams today through Wednesday, February 13 in the Cafeteria during lunch. Candygrams will be delivered on Valentine’s Day during homeroom. All proceeds will go towards a brick paver in memoriam of Andrew Rowinski. Pick up a $1 Candygram and write a nice message for a friend to support the cause!

 

 

In need of service hours? Ms. Sharp needs a few volunteers for a phone-a-thon Tuesday after school from 3:30 to 4:30. Please email or visit Ms. Sharp's office to let her know you can help.

 

 

Sports announcements for Monday, February 11th

Boys Basketball defeated Riverview Gabriel Richard in the quarterfinals of the Catholic League playoffs on Saturday. The Ventures led from start to finish and played a great all around team game. Sam Siepker paced the team with 18 points. Ben Alderson continues his hot shooting as he knocked down 3 from behind the arc on his way to 11 points. Mike Maten and Joey Kennedy each had 8. The team is back in action this Wednesday at Marian as they face Ann Arbor Greenhills in the semifinals. Game time is 5:30 PM.

 

Boys and Girls Bowling has an early out at 2 PM as they travel to Bel Mark lanes outside of Ann Arbor for a makeup match today at 3:30 PM.

 

Girls Basketball fell to Center Line on Friday 53-42. Melanie Moore had a monster game with 11 points and 25 rebounds. Kayla Moore led the scoring for the Ventures with 16 points along with 10 rebounds of her own. The team is back at it tonight as they host Warren Lincoln. Game time is 7 PM.

 

Wrestling saw Kendel Taylor come home as the District Champion. He defeated his opponent from Richmond 6-5 in the finals to take 1st place. He advances to the regionals where he will have a chance to qualify for states for the 2nd year in a row. He improved his record to 32-2 on the year.

Service Opportunity! Students are needed to help with the St. Mary's School Auction on March 9th from 4pm to 11pm at Sacred Heart Seminary. See Ms. Hursin to sign up to help!

 

 

Sports announcements for Wednesday, February 13th

Girls Basketball defeated Warren Lincoln 57-50 on Monday night. Kayla Moore has a double double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Melanie Moore led the Ventures with 19 points. Mary Ruth Oster had 11 points. Erin Craig had a late 3 that put the game out of reach. The team is back in action tomorrow as they host Melvindale.

 

Girls bowling defeated Austin Catholic 20-10 while the boys defeated Frankel Jewish Academy 29 to 1. The two teams are back in action today with a home match at Astro Lanes. Start time is 3:30.

 

Boys Basketball plays in the Catholic League semifinals at Marian High School today. Game time is 5:30 pm. The team faces off against the Gryphons of Greenhills. Admission is $6. Faculty IDs are accepted. Come out and support the team as they look to book another trip to Calihan Hall.

 

Jersey Mike’s sub coupons are being passed out in your home room. Visit the Jersey Mike’s on 14 mile just East of John R and get a great sub for just $3. Proceeds go to BFC athletics.

Sports announcements for Thursday, February 14th

The boys basketball team fell to #2 seed Ann Arbor Greenhills 31-29 last night in the Catholic League semifinals. It was a great defensive effort by both teams. The Ventures now set their sights on preparing for districts.

 

Girls Basketball is home tonight against Melvindale. Game time is 7 pm.

 

Cheer, Bowling and Powerlifting have team photos after school today.

 

February 15

Sports announcements for Friday, February 15th

Girls Basketball defeated Melvindale 58-17 in non-league play. The team was led by Melanie Moore with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Megan Gleason and Teresa Weis both scored with double figures as well with 11 and 10 points respectively. The team is now 11-4 on the year and look forward to their Catholic League quarterfinal game this Saturday against Austin Catholic. Game time is at noon at Mercy High School.

 

Boys and Girls Bowling compete at the Catholic League championships this weekend at Oak Lanes in Westland. Start time is 9 AM.

 

Powerlifting will be competing at the Henry Ford II regional qualifier meet this Saturday. They start at noon.

 

Kendel Taylor looks to advance to the state finals this Saturday as he competes in the individual regionals at Richmond High School. Start time is 9:30 AM.

 

Cheer competes in the MHSAA District competition this Saturday at Whitmore Lake High School. Start time is 4 PM. Good luck to all athletes competing this weekend.
