Debate & Forensics

Debate and Forensics focuses on building self confidence and poise in expressing themselves. In debate, students learn about current events, logic, and persuasive techniques. Forensics focuses on students having a creative outlet for their speaking talents. All students are welcome to participate, regardless if they are shy or outgoing. 



Local competitions are held September through March. Typically competitions are held twice a month, on Wednesday afternoons or evenings. 


Local competitions are held December through March. Typically competitions are held on Saturday mornings. Students meet for coaching on an as needed basis. 


The tournament schedule is set at the beginning of the year. If teams qualify, they may participate in the national competition in May. Team members have consistently qualified for the Catholic Forensic League Nationals. Competitions have taken place in a variety of cities across the United Stated including:

  • Boston
  • Chicago
  • Milwaukee
  • New York
  • Omaha
  • Pittsburgh
  • Washington
