About the Engineering Department

What real world skills do your students learn?

Students learn how to create digital representations and drawings in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) classes.

What careers can they get?

Many students with CAD and general design skills look for jobs in the engineering field.

What fun things can students take part in?

Bishop Foley Catholic offers CAD 1 and 2 courses as a dual enrollment option through the University of Detroit Mercy. In the CAD 1 class, the students take a field trip to UDM to tour their science and engineering department. There are many different projects throughout both courses where students use the skills they have learned to create 3-D digital representations of different objects. In the Robotics Engineering class, teams of students create their own robot and battle them at the end of the semester!

What makes the Engineering Department at Foley unique?

The CAD courses are dual enrolled through the University of Detroit Mercy, which means they can earn college credit for these classes. Many of our Engineering courses provide students who are also involved with our award-winning Robotics team, The Foley Freeze, additional hands-on experience.
