Engineering Dept. Q&A
What real world skills do your students learn?
The students learn how to create digital representations and drawings in the CAD classes.
What careers can they get?
Many students with CAD and general design skills look for jobs in the engineering field.
What fun things can students take part in?
Bishop Foley offers a CAD 1 course and a CAD 2 course dual enrolled through the University of Detroit Mercy. In the CAD 1 class, the students take a field trip to the University of Detroit Mercy to tour their science and engineering department. There are many different projects throughout both courses where students use the skills they have learned to create 3-D digital representations of different objects. In the Robotics Engineering class, teams of students create their own robot and battle them at the end of the semester!
What makes the Engineering department at Foley unique?
The CAD courses are dual enrolled through the University of Detroit Mercy, which means they can earn college credit for these classes.
