On July 30th, the coaches of the CHSL gathered at OLSM to talk about the upcoming season. During those discussions the Ventures were picked to finish in first place in the Intersectional II by the other coaches. The team is coming off a 3-6 campaign in Coach Brian Barnes first year at the helm. When asked about the expectations, Coach Barnes replied, "In terms of program expectations, we're going to embrace them and not run away from them."
The team returns many key starters from last years roster. All-Catholic running back Kendel Taylor, who verbally committed to play at Navy next year, will lead the charge for the Ventures. Kendel was ranked as the 6th best player in all of the CHSL. Also returning that started games last year are Benji Alderson, John Stickney, Zach Proctor, Jerry Thayer, Aiden Tierney, Sam Siepker, Griffin Connert, Nick Harnadek and Braden Mussat.
Back in the mix this year are Klayton Cornell and Jakob Hoffman who both return from injuries and will look to make an immediate impact. The team opens the season at home on Thursday, August 23rd at 7 PM against Detroit Public Safety Academy.
