This holiday season, we’re thrilled to spotlight our very own Katie Crombe, BFC ’07—a proud Foley alumna who has come full circle in the world of education and
admissions!
Katie currently serves as the Strategic Recruitment Coordinator for the Residential College in the Arts & Humanities (RCAH) at Michigan State University, where she helps future Spartans
begin their next chapter.
She credits Bishop Foley for inspiring her journey.
“My first job in admissions was as a Student Ambassador working for Mrs. Green—giving tours and hosting prospective students. Little did I know it would come full circle when I
was hired as the Admissions Director at Bishop Foley in 2015!”
We love seeing alumni come back home to share their time, talent, and heart with the Foley community. Katie has now been in higher-ed admissions for over a decade and is eternally grateful
for the foundation Foley gave her to pursue a career she truly loves.
The Sweet Week of Spirit Week
Ask Katie for her favorite Foley memory, and she’ll instantly take you back to Spirit Week—that magical, chaotic, full-of-energy celebration we all know and love.
“Our class was VERY spirited! Long nights building Super Mario blocks to hang from the ceiling… writing a James Bond–Austin Powers mashup script… rehearsing our
Spirit Day skit after school in the choir room. It was one of the few times when everyone came together behind a common goal. I still don't know how we got our whole freshman class to do the
hand jive in unison!”
At Bishop Foley, Spirit Week is practically an Olympic sport—and Katie’s class took the competition to legendary levels!
A Foley Star Is Born
Katie is a shining example of the academic excellence Bishop Foley is known for. She shares how Foley’s rigorous curriculum prepared her to thrive in college-level classes and beyond.
She graduated from Alma College with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication, then earned her Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from Michigan State University—where
she now proudly works.
But academics were just the beginning. Foley’s Drama Department played a major role in developing Katie’s love for the performing arts: “I’m currently in a musical
production of Now. Here. This. at Gratiot County Players. Foley drama and choir built my performing arts foundation!”
From athletics to clubs to theater, she made the most of every opportunity Foley offered—gaining leadership skills, lifelong friendships, and confidence that still guides her today.
The Unexpected Blessing
We always ask alumni to share advice with today’s students, and Katie’s message is powerful:
“Give yourself grace. There is so much pressure to have your whole life figured out, but you’re just beginning your journey. It’s okay not to know or to change your mind. There will be twists and turns you can’t imagine. Trust the process, and trust that God is leading you where you need to be—even in unexpected ways.”
The Foley Connection Is at Full Bars
Katie’s roots at Bishop Foley run deep—over 20 years deep!
Her parents, John and Jan, both work at Foley. Her brother Jonathan is BFC Class of 2008. And Katie herself proudly served as Foley’s Admissions Director for nearly four years.
Even after moving away, she makes it a priority to return for the school’s biggest events. As a robotics alum, she still comes back to cheer on today’s teams each season. And of course—she stays closely connected with her lifelong Foley friends whom she spent many days swimming, singing, acting, gaming, serving, studying, and building memories that last a lifetime.
What a beautiful picture of true Foley Family friendship!
