This Spring Season, we are proud to spotlight Bishop Foley Catholic alumnus Paul Silvestri, Class of 2008, who now serves as the Director of IT for the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan.

Paul attended Bishop Foley Catholic for his junior and senior years and immediately noticed a difference from his previous school. From day one, he experienced a welcoming, close-knit community where friendships formed quickly and lasting connections were built. He credits his time at Foley as a pivotal part of his personal and professional growth, shaped by supportive teachers who were deeply invested in student success.

When asked about his favorite memories as a student, Paul shared his appreciation for Mrs. Sheehan’s math class, describing it as fun, engaging, and energizing. He also fondly remembers his yearbook class with Mrs. Welicko, where he proudly recalls being the only male student and still feeling fully included and supported.

Paul is a strong example of Bishop Foley Catholic’s mission in action—developing students into servant leaders prepared to use their gifts in meaningful ways. As he shared, “Bishop Foley taught me the skills to be successful and to follow your dreams.” Today, he lives through his work in the nonprofit sector, using his expertise to serve and support his community.

His advice to current and future Foley students is simple but powerful: “Follow your dreams. Have an idea of what you want to do when you graduate high school, even though it may change along the way.” He reflects that even when he entered high school, he knew he wanted to pursue computers—though he wasn’t yet sure if that would mean coding or hardware.

Paul continues to stay connected to Bishop Foley Catholic because of the lasting impact it had on his life. He follows the BFC Facebook page and remains engaged with the Class of 2008 Alumni group, staying rooted in the community that helped shape him.

He especially enjoys remembering his favorite subjects—math and computer class—which helped spark the passion that continues to guide his career today.
