We are happy to share our first 2026 Alumni Spotlight of the Year: Quinlan Grobbel, a proud member of the Class of 2020!
Quin is currently a Supply Chain Analyst and a youth soccer coach. He is a proud graduate of Madonna University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a
concentration in Supply Chain Management. He now coaches youth soccer in Grosse Pointe and previously served as a soccer coach for his alma mater, Bishop Foley Catholic.
Bishop Foley Catholic had a huge impact on both his career and personal life.
“I was able to build friendships that last a lifetime, whether it was through classes or sports,” Quinlan reminisces. “Bishop Foley allowed me to grow and step out of my
comfort zone. The high standards that are implemented set the tone for the real world.”
Bishop Foley strives for excellence in its students, and Quinlan is a perfect example of what a Foley education is all about. With every student, we focus on what motivates and interests them
— and for Quinlan, that was sports.
“Bishop Foley allowed me to be a three-sport student-athlete in soccer, basketball, and track and field.”
He shares that being heavily involved in athletics helped him build relationships and connect with others outside of school. He feels incredibly blessed that both he and his brother, Corbin
Grobbel (Class of 2022), had parents who chose Foley.
Ask Quinlan about his favorite high school memory, and he’ll take you right back to the soccer field. During his sophomore year, he scored the only two goals to secure a district title
for the men’s soccer program — the first in 15 years! What an incredible achievement for a 15-year-old student-athlete.
Just six years after graduation, Quinlan says Foley has helped him tremendously in college and in his everyday professional life. One skill he especially values is time management.
“The ability to study for exams, complete homework, and be an athlete while maintaining high standards helped me not only in college, but also in my career and personal
development.”
As a member of Madonna University’s men’s soccer team for all four years, Foley gave him the foundation to manage a demanding schedule of studying and traveling for games. Today,
he uses those same skills to balance his professional career and his role as a youth soccer coach. Way to go, Quinlan!
His advice for current and future students: “Be courageous. Always strive to push yourself and step out of your comfort zone.”
Life as a young alum comes with new responsibilities — learning the ropes at a new job, setting a good example for younger family members, and planning for the future. Quinlan stays
connected to Foley by attending soccer and basketball games whenever he can. He also served as an assistant coach for the Foley soccer team for three seasons. Under Coach Nino Maniaci, the
team earned three district titles, one regional title, and a state finalist finish. He also enjoys playing in alumni games when he can.
Bishop Foley teachers are truly the heart within these four walls. Quinlan shares that all of his teachers made an impact on his life, but one stood out in a special way: Mr. Ken Pullis, one
of our current theology teachers.
“He did a great job explaining how Jesus is a part of our everyday actions and the path He wants us to follow,” Quinlan says. “Mr. Pullis was also very encouraging and
enthusiastic, which is a trait I’ve carried into my everyday work life, especially while coaching youth soccer.”
